Fukui-san? Yes it seems the Iron Chef...
For the last three days we have been in Fukui, and I bring you tidings of random Fukui goodness. Our original quest was to spread the hateful language called English, or in this instance, Engrish; this is how Fukuithon 2k5 began!1
On the first day we were given rest across the street from the train terminal at a place called...Terminal Hotel Fukui (not very original, and very foreboding) which was pretty deserted. The room we stayed in somehow had three beds where three beds should never be. And it seemed like certain death traps were set to get rid of us.
They carefully place the coffee pot over the blow dryer, a nice trick, but we did not fall for it! Toru also found we only had three channels on the TV, normal news, guy on ground, and porn. This was later noted to be the Pay channels, labeled clearly in English, yet unnoticed by Toru at the time...or was it?!
Anyway, after checking into Terminal Hotel, we went on the Engrish expedition. We were greeted by someone who knew Toru since wee-times, and she showed us to our students.

We had three classes that day (night actually) but for the sake of space, I'll just post one class. In between the second and last class, English teacher lady made us curry, it was the shiz. The last class was actually just two kids, one of them, えり, is going to Hawaii (OMG so cool that place!) and so is her brother Yusuke, but more on that later. (The other played the trumpet, so she was equally cool, if not cooler.) After class we went back to THF and watched Hollow Man, that movie is pretty awful.
The next day was one of the coolest on the trip so far, as it was like an all-expense paid Fukui nonstop extravaganza (turbo edition.) We met up with 5 of English Teacher Lady's high school students and they took us around doing mindless things. First we ate lunch, at a place that boasted being a Chinese Restaurant...which was a lie as it only had Vietnamese and variations of Japanese food, no pigs on skewers or whole chickens with heads included. Oh yeah, the names, りょう, ゆすけ (you remember his sister, up in paragraph 3 right?), みどり, ゆきえ (ゆきへ?), and りさ. Anyway, with our locals, we went to the bowling alley and bowled two games --let it be stated that it was free and that may be the only way to make me bowl-- and we sucked up the place quite a bit.

Let's aside comment*
During the Fukui part of the trip I was given many names, as I will list here. Jamy, Jamie, Jeerrrmy, JaRemy, Jahmy, and Handsome. The last one was by Toru, I think. Wyeth won over the name competition with, Wyas, Yes, Wyatt, White, Wath, Weth, Wyet, and every other combination known to man, Oh yes, and Wyeth is very *cool* as English Teacher Lady Sensei says. That is all...Back to the show.
After that, we played some arcade games, Taiko Drum, then Daytona in which I schooled ゆすけ proper, but that's because he was in automatic, and didn't play it before, I think. He got his revenge in Air Hockey though, as he and Toru took on I and the W man. Then we all played this K-1 game where you kick this bag and it judges your score. Wyert missed and kicked the stand, so he got a 29 or something like that (the high score was 400+) then りょう left. Tres Junk. We played more games, then got tired out and got ice-cream. Well, I didn't, I had earlier in the day, (did I mention we went to crazy Suicide Japanese Sea?) and we also had some "delicious sticks." After a bunch of walking around we went to this karaoke place. Yeah, bad idea. ゆすけ, who owns at singing, as well as the rest of the Fukuians sang some songs, then Wyasz, Toru and I did "Fly me to the Moon." It was later reported, some kittens in the nearby area died. Here is us belting out noises that sound kind of like Bruce Lee movies...
Yeah, it was pretty bad...Anyway, after that, they sang more, and we finished it with Toru and I singing L-O-V-E which was equally bad, with some pretty off-key notes especially at the end. After this we took pictures and りさ left the fray. This is one of said pictures:
We went and ate dinner with ETL and her friends, and her friends children, and the remaining High School Fukuians, it was noisy. We taught the kids stupid American tricks, like paper football and stuff, then we went to see more Hotarus there were more this time, but an electric wire prevented us from going on, damn those farmers and their ingenious 2 dimensional traps! Here are some pictures of the kids that went:

Today we ate lunch out, and just cruised around getting clothes (thanks to Sanako sensei Teacher Lady.) It was a pretty relaxed day after the craziness of the last.
So we got back here...and to leave, I will distract you with a picture of Wyatt (Earp?)
